  • Pickups for a Duo Sonic SH

I've got a Duo Sonic SH, and I want the pickups upgraded.
I'm considering either an SSL-1 or Antiquity Duo Sonic pickup in the neck.
In the bridge, I'd consider a Pearly Gates or whatever pairs best with the neck pickup.

If some background helps, I wanted a short-scale Fender but didn't care for the Jaguar.
I'm not married to the Duo Sonic sound, and I'd prefer if it came close to Strat land.
I'd like to wire the humbucker so that middle position gives me some quack.

Then there is the the neck pickup cover. Would the SSL-2 fit under that?
Perhaps I should order a RWRP to get quack when in middle position.

Any advice? Forgive me if I don't quite know enough of what I'm talking about.
I'd just like this guitar to be versatile and sound great.

From Duncan, the Custom famliy is the one that sounds the most Fendery albeit only when split IME. If you split a Custom mixed with an SSL it should quack. The lone Custom in my Jackson almost 'quacks' on its own when split.

I wouldn't bother trying to put a duo-sonic cover on a replacement strat pickup. If you replace the pickup, just replace the pickup. I don't know if the Duo-Sonic pickups are the same size as strat pickups or not. You'll need to confirm that before you buy, otherwise your options will simply be duo-sonic replacements.

RWRP doesn't give quack. It provides hum-cancelling.
