  • Lets compare the 59b, JB, & C-5.

Post your thoughts on these pups:
What they go good with in the neck, your experience, compared to one another, hybrids, split/parallel tones, what you would have & why.

(you'll be helping me @ the same time since I'm having second thoughts on the JB/Jazz combo).

I think what I want is a JB with a higher bass response, but then again there's your amp's EQ etc.
(SO MANY TONES OUT THERE MAN, IT"S ALL PREFERENCE BUT OPINIONS DO HELP WITH LIKE-MINDED PEOPLE)

Re: Lets compare the 59b, JB, & C-5.

I use a 59B/Jazz set up in my newer Paulys. But....they're being played through 1982 JCM 800's and old TS-808's. The amp and 808 combination that I use are not high gain. I set the amps fairly clean, and use the 808 to push them. This pickup combination is music to my ears, with the 59 being very warm and toneful, aggressive when I want it to be, and the Jazz being very full and round, nice and creamy, without losing definition. I find this pickup combination to be very compatible with that of my older Les Pauls, which have their original PAF's in them. Your combination of amp and effects is, of course, going to play a big part in how any pickup combination will sound. The best I can describe the 59B / Jazz combo is : Classic Les Paul Tone. Warm and full, no frills. Hope this helps.
