  • EVH Bridge Pickup Wiring

I bought a custom shop strat with an EVH bridge pickup in it I didn’t really like, so took it out. I wonder however if it sounded goofy because of the way it was wired. It came out of the shop this way so I’d think they got it right but it doesn’t seem to make sense to me. Here are two picks. So in my understanding the green should be wired to white and tied off leaving red as hot and black as ground? In the way they had it wired Green is ground, and black and white soldered together was hot… does this make sense to anyone? I’m definitely no expert.

Looks like they tried to follow Fender wire color convention, where green is hot, black+white is the series link, and red is ground?

It appears for a Wolfgang pickup, the colors would be black+bare to ground, white+green soldered together as the series link, and red as hot.

Although a Japanese reference has it as white is hot, red+green series link and black to ground.

Thank you so much! I couldn’t find a wiring diagram anywhere! That’s what I was wondering if it was just a busy day at the factory and went auto pilot. In my research it seems the way they wired it followed Dimarzio color code as well. I’m going to try the wiring in the diagram you shared and give it a whirl!
