PATB-1

For the past six years, I have been a huge fan of the PATB-1 (and 3) pickups. They have a note definition that is just outstanding. The PATB-1b has just the right amount of heat, but still has the ability to clean up when you roll off the volume knob. They split extremely well. I just need Duncan to make them in Parchment so I can load it into a few of my strats! lol!

Pardon the sloppy playing. I am still recovering from hand surgery.

The PA-TB1 is probably the single most versatile pickup in SD's lineup! However, the looks aren't "traditional", so people often pass over it. :/

SD told me they would consider doing a special run of PA bobbins in Cream as a forum-only offering. If there is enough interest in that, we could certainly approach them again.

Of course, if "parchment" would be more acceptable to most than "cream", I'm sure they'd be willing to do that instead.

I suspect they would only be willing to do one special run color, but we could always ask!

i think a tweaked patb set in cream or parchment for the forum would be sweet. slightly overwound patb1 neck and overwound patb3 bridge and id be in for two sets!

They're on my list to try. Look for them used on and off and kinda hard to come by, unsurprisingly.

If I had this RG, a hsh set in white would be necessary.

The stack also sounds incredible, imo.

"Sloppy"? Sounds pretty good to me.

The PATB series is just bonkers.

PATB1: classic medium output pickup with the note separation and definition of low output pickups but with more grind.
PATB1 neck: classic PAF plus sound. Hot but not hot. Very clear and fluid.
PATB 2: HOT HOT HOT but never ridiculous.
PATB1/2 hybrid: perfection for everybody who needs more power than a JB, more openness than a Custom, but needs the fluidity, clarity, of the PATB series.
PATB3: Perfect PAF.
PASTK1: the best noiseless singlecoils out there. Bar none.

I've always been interested in the PATB singles, but either could never find them, not find them for a reasonable price, didn't want to route deep enough to fit them, or didn't want to cut a pickguard to make them fit. Would still love to try them some day though.

as much as i love the patb series, ive never owned a stack. only tried them in other peoples guitars, but they always sounded good

I wonder if they'd be more popular if SD kept the PA pole pieces, but used more traditional looking rounded bobbins?

i think its mostly the pole pieces, unless you actually have one you might not notice the bobbins

I really do need to try the stack. Maybe that will be my next purchase... if I can find them.
