  • LTD VB-400 pickup suggestions

    Hey!

I'm about to change the bridge PU in my LTD baritone (this model: https://reverb.com/item/67847095-esp-ltd-vb-400) to some passive beast.
The style I'm playing is hardcore/sludge with a hint of death metal.
I was thinking Black Winter or Nazgul but both have that picky treble that I don't really like. I'm looking for a sound similiar to this:
Trample the weak // Destroy those who oppose // Forever Worship Violence at the altar of True Deathin rebirth, Grave With A View.

The gear I'm using: Mesa Dual Recto head/cab, Maxon OD808X

    Any ideas?

    Thanks,
    MRC

Invader is darker than the BW OR Nazgul and may fit well
    1994 Ibanez IC500 Iceman reissue
    Jackson Soloist 7 string
    ESP LTD M-400
    Original Marshall Silver Jubilee 2553

According to the tests I found the Invader too muddy.

I'm not sure I have an answer for your question, but that's a cool looking guitar.

The Black Winter doesn't have much treble, but if you don't like that, maybe it is worthy of a SLUG?

Not treble maybe, sorry. I meant upper mids I guess. That twangy sound:

Has anyone tried the Pegasus? Would it be good for a baritone (27')?

The Pegasus is fantastic for baritones and extended scales. It is a scooped pickup with tons of tight lows. It is much more modern sounding than something like a JB or Custom, and doesn't have the upper mids like a Nazgul. It also sounds great at all gain levels, which isn't the case for many modern metal pickups.

I would also suggest the Pegasus.

                    JB could work as well.
