  • Telecaster/Esquire 4 way switching option?

Hi - my first post here.

I’m looking to find out how to wire a telecaster for four way switching - a hybrid of Esquire and Tele as follows:

    1. Bridge only - no tone
    2. Bridge only - tone control
    3. Bridge and Neck - Parallel
    4. Neck only - tone control

How could this be done and are there diagrams for this type of switching combination? Thanks.

    Welcome to the forum

I think it could be done like this (assuming all lugs on 4-way blade switches are independent; e.g. no built-in Lug1 + Lug2 stuff going on)

    Side A lugs:

    A1 - bridge hot
    A2 - jumper from A1
    A3 - jumper from A1
    A4 - tone control
    AC - to volume input

    Side B lugs:

    BC - jumper to AC
    B1 - jumper from A4
    B2 - (empty)
    B3 - jumper from B4
    B4 - neck hot

One other suggestion I received was to use a no-load tone pot combined with three way switching - it will give the same tones, but may require adjusting the tone control after switching pickups.
