Introducing the Rail Series...

16.5k vs 18,6k - I guess 43AWG?
Bill lawrence used ceramic magnets until AlNiCo got cheaper. The Wilde pickups are with AlNiCo5 now. They compansate with different windings therefore.
Where's the difference in the rails? Material? Length?

Is the magnet switchable like in the original JB to make a Distortion "light" out of it?

The SH13 has rails that are flat and flush with the surface of the bobbins. The new Rails line are raised and curved, like a Hot Rails

There are definitely going to be some differences when comparing the new JB Rails to the SH-13. I'm sure the bobbin geometry is different, the winding is different, and we know both the rails and magnet type are different for sure. My guess is that the JB Rails will be a little hotter, a little darker, and a little more compressed sounding than the SH-13.

The Wilde pickups had to be modified from the original designs...not because Alnico somehow got "cheaper" (they have always been more expensive to produce), but because Bill n' Becky didn't own the rights to the original BL twin-blade designs. Fortunately, Bill was able to tweak his designs enough to avoid infringing on the Bill Lawrence USA patents while delivering the sonic results people expected from his earlier models.

As for swapping mags in the JB Rails, I don't see why you couldn't as long as the Rails mag is a standard size, but the reality is that a regular Ceramic isn't going to be enough of a difference over the stock A8 to make the swap worth it for most. In fact, I'd argue the new JB Rails pretty much *IS* a "Distortion Lite" in its current configuration.
