I tried the pickup in the bridge position of my American Special Strat. I really tried to like it but it just wasn't happening. The best description I can give for my dislike is that it had too much fizz/sizzle for me. There was something happening with the top end that I did not like. My understanding is that this pickup needs to be working at volume to get the best results. To be fair, I don't get the chance too often to play at volume. So, my next decision is to try a Pearly in the hopes that it's not too bright. Is there something in the Pearly realm that I should look at? Thanks for any and all suggestions.

The PG is sort of a brighter variation of the PAF, so you may have the same issue as you did with the Demon. Look at both Slash variations, the APH-1, and for something hotter, the Custom Custom.Administrator of the SDUGF

Yeah - if the fizz/sizzle is what you didn't like about the Demon, I don't think the PG is gonna be for you either.
What was in there? What do you need more/less of?
If too bright /sizzle is your issue I say go to an A2P...but I don't have enough info to now that is the right choice.Originally posted by Bad City

I'm looking for something not quite as bright. The guitar is inherently bright on its own. Looking for a humbucker that's got good low end clarity and less top end fizz/sizzle.
I play hard/classic rock, blues and heavy metal. When forced by my drummer I'll play/record some pop style music.
I'm not looking for a pickup that is high output but pairs well the Texas Special's in the neck and middle.Last edited by Explorer84; 12-03-2024, 12:48 PM.

And if not the A2P, maybe the Slash pickup as well. It's a tweaked A2POriginally posted by Bad City
