Hey guys, it's been a long time since I've posted or lurked! I'm on the final stretch of a long road in having a custom guitar built, and although the builder first said what I'm asking for is no problem, now he may need a diagram. Doing a bit of digging I haven't been able to find one diagram that has all of this nonsense but I'm hoping to first confirm this is indeed possible! Started to cobble my own diagram together and I realized I may need to tag some experts in,
Wondering if this is overzealous - I want the SD Custom/59 at the bridge and DiMarzio FT1 at the neck; a series/parallel switch for the humbucker; the passive bass and treble controls (PTB) like in my G&L on a stacked pot; and the Ghost Acoustiphonic with the mid/dark switch to power the piezo bridge. The builder suggested the 5-way Schaller Megaswitch P and I am fuzzy on whether that's the right choice.
There are a few different variations of the PTB controls and I was looking at this one from Premier Guitar.
Then the Ghost preamp has its own board that comes with a toggle switch (mags/both/piezo) and volume pot (also push/pull voicing switch), and feeds a stereo output jack.
So first - is it possible to have both pickups go through the PTB controls, feed just the bridge through the series/parallel mini switch, and then have them meet happily at the Ghost board to have that piece handle the magnetic/piezo switching?
Second - Graphtech says it's possible to install a bypass switch so if the battery dies, you can play with the pickups and not end up with a dead guitar. I'm guessing this would be another toggle between the magnetic output and the Ghost board, that directs magnetic signal straight to the output jack if needed. Would love some clarity on that,
Third - on a 5-way Megaswitch P, with the FT1 at the neck I have split that pickup before and it gets very brittle and harsh, probably wasn't designed to split given its full series mode is a hotter/fatter single coil sound. So thinking about this type of config on the switch:
1. Full bridge hum
2. (split bridge + neck) in parallel
3. (split bridge + neck) in series
4. Neck FT1 wired parallel
5. Neck FT1 wired series
Am I a crazy dreamer? I'd appreciate any guidance and sanity checks!
