  • Humbuckers (full size)in Strat ideas?

Doing another parts caster, maple neck, alder body, 2 full size humbuckers looking for ideas.
I play a lot of oldies/classic rock stuff Beatles,Stones,CCR,Elvis, etc but need to rock out too.
My other guitar(strat) I built has 59 in neck, custom jazz bridge.
They sound ok, but not great. Looking for other ideas, suggestions.
    Thanx

CustomCustom is great in Strat types, and the output is not too over the top. Splits well too.
Some have had good results with the 59/Custom Hybrid in Strats. It was too bright for me though, at least in that particular axe.
A bit hotter but very good for S-types is the DiMarzio AT-1. It's rich and fills out a 25½" axe nicely.
    .
I like the Anderson H2 bridge too; it's pluckier & glassier, though far less fat. (Not talking about he more common H2+; that's just about as hot as a JB).
JB of course is a classic in Fender types with a great lead voice. Legendary for a reason, just a bit too too hot clean up like a lower output hum.
In that same hot/fat category, the DiMarzio Breed Bridge is a truly excellent thickener. Discontinued but you can still find NOS ones on eBay.

I ran a 59B and an old T-top at the neck in one of my Floydcasters for decades. Good combo in the vintage-output category.
That guitar now has a PATB-3 bridge with a PATB-1N and they absolutely rock. Look a bit funny, but sound great

I say the 59/Custom Hybrid and Alnico II Pro.

I would go with a Jazz set based on the bands you mentioned. Pearly Gates might also be the answer I had the PGn in a Strat it sounded amazing and incredibly Stratty split.

Those are good options, More for the neck position as I always play here.
          More buttery sounding.
But need it to cover a heavier sound too.

Hearing really good things about the custom custom for bridge, Does it clean up well? Not to much treble?

I love the Custom Custom in the bridge. It is a great sound for classic rock-levels of gain. I've found that it does clean up really well with a volume knob, and splits good, too. It doesn't have the low end 'chug' thing, though, if that is important to you.

                Thanks Mincer,
Problem I always have in my strats are neck humbucker is always fuller louder sounding, when I switch to bridge its lower in volume and middy drab sounding.
That's why I always play on neck position.

A great match for the Custom Custom is the Alnico Pro II. It is warmer than the 59, and not scooped at all.

Have you considered the Hades Gates set or the Slash 2.0 set?

Custom Custom bridge and Slash 2.0 neck would probably be my next try on an HH guitar.
Or go south and try a PA-TB3 bridge and PA-TB neck.

Does the Alnico Pro neck humbucker have less bass than the 59?
Always used 59 neck in my strats and just couldn't tame the bass on them.otherwise they sound good.
Just checking out other ideas, thinking custom custom for bridge.

                            Yes, less bass, more mids.

I will add a +1 for the Custom Custom and Perpetual Burn. The Screamin' Demon is great in Strats too. The Custom Custom is my favorite though. The Strat I have it in is paired up with an Alnico 2 Pro neck and a single 500K control for volume. It cleans up well in my setup. I'm old school for clean tones, roll it back.
