Since its introduction in 1958, the Fender Jazzmaster® has enjoyed cult-classic status among purveyors of surf rock, indie, alternative, shoegaze, and beyond. Known for its bright, punchy cleans and warm, mellow overdriven growl, it’s perfect for creating rich soundscapes across a wide array of genres.

However, traditional Jazzmaster® pickups are plagued by unwanted noise, and that unruly hum can distract from your carefully crafted tone. So, we set out to create vintage-voiced noiseless Jazzmaster® pickups that do not sacrifice clarity and high-end.

The result is our Vintage Jazzmaster® Silencer pickups, noiseless Jazzmaster® pickups that don’t compromise on tone. Designed and crafted by Seymour Duncan’s VP of Engineering Kevin Beller, these Jazzmaster® pickups employ a patent-pending triple-coil system. With two outer coils canceling hum while an inner coil captures the unmistakable Jazzmaster® sound, they offer pure, authentic vintage tone with plenty of punch and warmth, but with absolutely no hum.

Plus, the visible Alnico 5 pole pieces maintain the classic Jazzmaster® look, so you get hum-free sound with an unaltered, vintage feel.

Enjoy the classic offset sound with a warm, punchy Jazzmaster® neck tone and a bright and tight Jazzmaster® bridge sound with plenty of snap. Our Vintage Jazzmaster® Silencer pickups are a drop-in replacement for any Jazzmaster®-sized pickups. Perfect for surf-inspired riffs, shimmering indie textures, modern pedal-driven explorations, and more, the Seymour Duncan Vintage Jazzmaster® Silencer pickups maintain bold presence without interference—just pure sonic clarity.

The Jazzmaster®’s mystique is undeniable, with its unique offset body and punchy, tight tones loved by indie, rock and surf players alike. Its iconic clean chime and gritty, growling overdrive are perfect for players exploring rich, layered sounds. Yet, traditional Jazzmaster® pickups can be plagued by hum, pulling you out of that sonic sweet spot with unwanted noise.

Our Hot Jazzmaster® Silencer pickups fix that issue and add an extra edge. Designed by Seymour Duncan’s VP of Engineering Kevin Beller, these noiseless Jazzmaster® pickups employ a patent-pending triple-coil design, with two coils dedicated to hum-canceling and one inner coil that dials in that unmistakable Jazzmaster® vibe—but punchier. The visible row of Alnico 5 pole pieces preserves the classic Jazzmaster® look, while a higher output unleashes stronger, more powerful tones without sacrificing clarity.

The Hot Jazzmaster® Silencer neck pickup has a crisp, full-bodied tone, adding extra warmth in the low end, while the bridge pickup brings sharp definition and sustain for solos that cut through any mix. Designed as a drop-in replacement for any Jazzmaster®-sized pickups, this noiseless set lets you dive into gritty surf riffs, glimmering melodies, grungy fuzzed-out rock, reverb-drenched shoegaze, and beyond. With boosted output and zero hum, it’s everything you love about the Jazzmaster®, amped up.

What improvement does using two dummy coils provide?

It's about time we got some noiseless Jazzmaster pickups.
You will never understand How it feels to live your life With no meaning or control And with nowhere left to go You are amazed that they exist And they burn so bright

Good question. 2 is better than 1, so...

Are they thick? the Fralin noiseless JMs are too chunky to fit a regular rout without deepening it, so if SD solved that problem, I'd say hip hop hurray

As far as I see, they haven't published the dimensions yet.

That's the one thing I was thinking. Maybe two side by side coils is a way to make it so the pickup doesn't have to be as tall

Really cool idea, a shame they had to apply for a patent for it in a field already starved for innovation.

I think they have to be thicker than normal, unless they made the two counter-coils to place them off-axis or something. Doesn't seem plausible.

Yeah I'm not going off angled promo pics that could be (unintentionally) misleading, I'll wait for SD to put some actual dimensions. They're pretty good about that stuff imo

Another thing is that in the description, it provides a link to other Jazzmaster covers they offer for all of the Jazzmaster pickups, so those fit, it's gotta be pretty close.

                          From SD themselves:
"the new Jazzmaster Silencers are no larger, thicker, wider, or taller than any stock Jazzmaster single coil pickup.
This shouldn’t be an objection for anyone considering them for their instrument."

                          So...there ya go.

In addition to the usual row of dwarves jumping up and down in time with the vibrations of your strings, this pickup contains not one, but two extra rows of dwarves trained to jump at offset rates that cancel unwanted noise while preserving rich, full tone. The wizards at SD have carefully ensorcelled these dwarves to fit within a normal-sized Jazzmaster pickup cover.
