  • I'm not sure where to post this, about resistors & capacitors.

Where do you guys buy your resistors & caps?
What type and value you use.

On the volume volume the tone pot, from the volume to tone pot?

I generally buy resistor and capacitor kits on Amazon. Best value for the money. I usually put the caps on the tone pot for convenience, but if I'm swapping one out that sits between the tone and volume, no point in changing its location.

Well, for HSS, HH, P90s, I like 500K volume, 250K tone, both audio taper. .022uf to .047uf tone capacitor depending on what the guitar sounds like. I've ordered off Amazon, Sweetwater, StewMac, GuitarPartsResource, Guitarfetish (I like they Alpha pots the carry).

I buy from guitar wiring suppliers, and sometimes just general electronics supply.

              For humbucker guitars, .022 caps
For single coil guitars, .047 caps
Resistors depend on the circuit, for example, an Esquire uses a 3.3k ohm resistor.

For wiring the tone cap volume to tone, electronically it doesn't matter the order, so whatever makes the shortest path and fits in the control cavity. I tend to side with tone pot with the cap piggybacking on it so it's a self-contained control. But if I'm being a traditionalist, I might do the volume > cap > tone thing on a Gibson.

I'm afraid to share something useless if I state that I buy RC components... where I find the types and values that I need. So, it's variable.

I've already ordered on Amazon as well but beware with some hosted shops: I've ordered once a non typical rotary switch to one of these and have never received it. But no way to have my money back since the shop was gone a few weeks later - and Amazon absurdly kept telling me to complain directly to this hosted shop whose references had disappeared.

Regarding capacitors, I won't jump here on my hobby horse but there's a goldmine to dig IME in non typical values (and alternative wiring schematics). To have an idea of what I mean, see for instance the YT vid named " Tech Tips With Lindy, Part III - Tone Capacitors Explained".

I never buy caps on their own. I wait 'til I need other guitar parts, and then stock up on what I'm low on at that time. Guitar Electronics, in Phoenix, is one of my main sources. Or just Mouser for other electronic parts.

I'm a cap-between-vol/tone guy for my own guitars, and leave it as it is for a customers guitar. (Unless they specify otherwise.)

heck yes, I'm on dope. and other things every single day, my boy. the world is a nightmare and coping chemically is like, awesome. try it sometime, I've got stories from the 90s that would blow your mind. and even then I know that 1.) literally every Duncan wiring diagram has resistor and cap values, and 2.) the search function on this message board will return plenty of results for simple queries like this

It seems rather stupid complaining about someone being social on social media.

I gave you two A+ helpful suggestions for finding the answers you desire, ninfriendo. next time you're in St Louis you can come over and smoke up with me. you might even see some weird stuff while you're here, I don't live in the gentrified area. one time I saw a prostitute stab a clown. And it was daytime.

I'm not looking for suggestions, I want to hear experiences people have had with using other values than the two suggested norms.
and I certainly don't need your weed, I grow plenty of my own.
