  • Replacing a soapbar with a P-90 Super Distortion

How do you go about slapping a p90 Super Distortion in there?

The soapbar has mounting screws between the pole pieces and any of Dimarzio p90's have the mounting screws on the outer edges. Confused as I thought a p-90 was a p-90 was a p-90.

Your gonna have to drill two new holes into that beautiful piece of wood

You gotta be kidding!!!! Why would Dimarzio come out with pickups that don't even fit without modifying? What were they smoking when they were doing research and development on their p90's?

They probably put them on the sides because of the two coils...

The holes won't be visible I am guessing though right? Not like I'd have to route out the cavity or anything.

No, you won't be able to see them. I would have a tech do it if your not comfortable doing it yourself

I have done drilling into wood before but I am not experienced with p-90 guitars. The guitar I pictures isn't even mine,I used it for reference. I bought these pickups already and have them on hand thinknig they would install like any normal set of pickups would.

I am guessing the only guitars these would retro-fit into are guitars that take dog eared p-90's? Those seem to be the only other p-90's I have seen with the mounting screws on the outer edges.
