  • Fat Strat Wiring question

Hey folks...I have an American Fat Strat that I just wired up with Kinman AvN Blues pickups in the neck and middle, and a PGb in the bridge. Currently I have a 500k volume and a Torres super-midrange pot in there, but what I wanted to do was move the bridge exclusively to the 500k volume and add a 250 volume for the neck and middle. Would this be do-able? Are there any adverse effects to having two different value volume pots? Thanks!

Yes, this can be done. There are no problems when mixing volume pots of different values, you'll just get a slightly darker sound with a 250k pot compared to a 500k pot.

Thanks Ryan...do you think there would be any problem sending both outputs to the same tone pot? (In this case, the torres super midrange)

No problems at all. Again, you'll notice that lower pot values have a darker sound, so as long as you don't mind cutting out some treble from the neck and middle pickups, you'll be fine.
