  • NECK PU' ADVICE!! new on the board

Hi, new to the forum. I need to replace the (single) neck pickup on my axe:
    Body: alder
    Neck:maple
    Fingerboard:rosewood
    Floyd Rose

I want to be able to get warm, clean tones for both rhythm playing and single-line solos in a jazz setting.
I also want to be able to get a smooth, singing sustain when using
the neck pickup for high-gain ala "Carlos Santana".

Please answer me, I'm getting a Duncan pu' for my birthday (15 june). Thanks everybody.
    Itīs so sweet...

tough call. Until you got the Santana part of your description, I was thinking that the way to go was an AIIpro. But I am not sure that will get you a Santana tone. That might be better with a lil59. Overall, I would probably recommend the former instead of the latter. the AII is super smooth sounding and has a wonderful tone that isn't harsh at all.

For the bridge, If you're looking for a metal sounding pickup with a lot of Harmonics, get the Duncan Distortion. If you expect to play cleans with the bridge you might want to consider a JB however. If you have a single coil bridge, go with a Hot rails.

        My two cents

          The Tone Wizard says: neck-little 59m middle-duckbucker, bridge-Custom 5.
What do you think of this set, for the stuff I describe above?
