  • Trembucker spacing in the Neck--will it be ok?

I have an RG-570 and a duncan distortion tb6 in the bridge--its pretty good--but would that fact that it is trembucker spaced (for floyd rose) make it unsuitable for the neck position?

The tone wizard says you can use the distortion for the neck but it recommends the SH-6, which is NOT trembucker spaced... what would be the difference in sound if I used the TB-6 instead of the SH-6 in the neck--minimal differences or large differences in tone? What type of differences? Less bass? More treble? Curious...

If you use it, your guitar will self destruct!!!! run away run away!!

I think it would be fine. Since you already have the thing, why don't you try it out?

      For several reasons:
      (1) I am trying to draw on the wisdom of you guys
      (2) I want to test a tone zone in the bridge of another ibanez I have and if I like it better in the bridge than the distortion then I would consider putting the TB-6 in the neck...
      (3) I am a clumsly fool/ok solderer/and don't have a multimeter (or whatever that thing is you need to measure D. C. Resistance)--plus I've never installed a pup by myself yet and I am afraid of botching it up.... :-) How hard is it, really? Perhaps I am overestimating its difficulty? I also don't know if my 15 watt soldering iron is hot enough....

Well the Distortion bridge is slightly different from the Distortion neck, but that hasn't stopped people from putting it in there anyway. The F-spacing shouldn't cause a problem, other than cosmetic. I have a standard spaced SH-6 in a Floyd equipped guitar and it works juts fine (and I don't mind the pole pieces being a little offset).

As far as the soldering iron, a lot of people prefer a higher wattage iron. The 15 watt iron will get hot enough, but it'll take an awfully long time.
