Hey guys, just to let you know, I've got a PG+/Texas Special US Fat Strat. The midrange/half vowel sound from the bridge was driving me a bit bananas. Anyway, I lowered the TS to get a weaker, brighter more vintage tone and it worked a treat. I turned my attention to the PG+ and lowered it nearly flush with pickguard and it worked a treat. Less honk, still a bit vowelly (shouldn't complain too much - it cuts through the mix better) but warmer and smoother, much like a 59.
But even though I've lowered it, the bass has turned a bit mushy. Will push the height up a bit tonight. Just wanted to share my thoughts on a (often) misjudged pickup.
