  • I know were on a Duncan board, but.....

I need some advice who knows a lot about Dimarzio and Ibanez pickups. I have two Japanese made Ibanezes. A Talman with super 58's, and a Destroyer reissue with QM's. My question is 1, what Dimarzio pups are those 2 sets most sound like, and 2, are they worth keeping in, or should they be replaced with there real life counterparts. Or is it even possible that they are actually Dimarzio pups sold under an Ibanez name, which I have heard quite a few times that Dimarzio makes all of Ibanezes pups. I've only been playing for a few years, so my ear isn't quite as precise as some of you more experienced players, so any advice would be helpful. Thanks.

dimarzio doesnt make all of them but the ones that ibanez says are made by dimarzio are and you can email dimarzio for comparisons. they listed what they were closest to on there old site but they dont on the new site.

        For reference, here's the info:

        Model Made for Retail Equivalent
        C2 Ibanez Similar to HS-2 (DP116)
C3 Ibanez No equivalent. Closest model is Blue Velvet Bridge (DP171)
F1 Ibanez No equivalent. Closest model is The Breed Bridge (DP166)
F2 Ibanez No equivalent. Closest model is The Tone Zone (DP155)
F3 Ibanez No equivalent. Closest model is Super 3 (DP152)
F4 Ibanez No equivalent. Closest model is PAF (DP103)
        H1 Fender Same as Super 3 (DP152)
        H2 Fender Same as Super 3 (DP152)
H3 Fender No equivalent. Closest model is Evolution Neck (DP158)
H4 Fender No equivalent. Closest model is The Breed Neck (DP165)
H5 Fender No equivalent. Closest model is The Breed Neck (DP165)
H6 Fender No equivalent. Closest model is PAF (DP103)
H7 Fender No equivalent. Closest model is F1 model for Ibanez
H8 Fender Similar to PAF Pro (DP151)

The QM pickups are NOT DiMarzio made to the best of my knowledge. Neither are the V series. The best thing that you can usually do to guitars with those is to pop them out and pop in an SD, DMZ, EMG, or whatever other aftermarket pickups you prefer into them ASAP.

        Hope that helps,
        Jeff
