That thick solo sound they got. Big guitars sound and thick solos. If you listen to I Reemember You or 18 and Life the guitar solo tone is huge.
    That Dave Snake Sabo sound.

Distortion? Just throwing that out there. Maybe a JB too. Though I'm partial to "I Remember You".

Been wondering the same thing, that thick sound is just a perfect metal tone.

ada mp-1 ... modded .. multiple overdubs in the recording ... sweet sound !!! ..

i think the snare drum sound on 'i remember you' is possibly the best snare drum sound ever recorded for hard rock ... tied with the snare drum in 'refugee' by tom petty and the heartbreakers for best snare drum in music ever

Great to see some skid row fans! I personally love them, especially that album and one of my favourites is "i remember you"

I think without a doubt a JB would get you the sound skid row are mainly about on that self titled album, but for the neck im not sure, i dont think it would hurt to go with a Jazz

          Definitely a JB though!

Yup... they used JB's and ADA MP1 preamps... that'll get you that tone perfectly!

Re: What do ya think will get that old SKid Row sound?

I can get a kinda similar like Distortion tone from "Monkey Business" using

Epi Lespaul with Duncan Custom Bridge.
                    ADA MP-1 3TM
ADA MQ-1 (for very minor eqing)
                    Peavey Classic 60/60
                    Marshall JCM900 412 Celestion 75s.

Its not the same the tone, but can say close.. even though they didnt use the ADA MP-1 on that record, but I believe Rivera M100 head with either Tube screamer or Boss SD-1 infront.
