I think that I was trying to be ironically humorous. Sometimes it doesn't translate well in print.

Hey thanks. Was in need of some encouraging words!!! LOL!!!

Still want to redo the whole thing but with my amps. Just haven't been in the mood of late is all. I'm sure I'll get there though.

    Thanks again.

*(Please note I need to make a quick tweak to the mix, esp the distorted guitar...made some bad decisions with fatigued ears, but this will get you started!)*

This one is a little disjointed but I wanted to add a little variety:

    A - Clean section in Em (Em - C - Em - C - D - C)
    B - Rockin' in Em (Em - D - C - Am - Em - D - C - D)
    C - Let's go Major! (G - D - Em - C)

For those not all about the alphaghetti's ... just rock out in Em.

    --------------------------------------------------------
    Gear:

Guitar: Squier Standard Fat Strat with SD Custom8/'59 (it's my only axe currently in standard)
Bass: 80's BC Rich NJ Eagle with SD SPB-3's
    AMP (clean): BIAS FX
AMP (Dist): ADA MP-1 (Michael Wagener Preset) into Two-Notes torpedo Wall of sound for power tube emulation and speaker iR (Lynchbacks) ... And an H910
    Interface: RME FF800
    Drums: EZ Drummer 2

And don't you worry folks, I already have the third backing track so we won't have to wait nearly as long!

    Enjoy!

In the spirit of this not really being a contest at all and 'cause there's no cap mentioned as far as the number of entries go (not to mention the scarcity of entries in general..) & also 'cause I'm pretty stoked with the direct lead tone I dialed in here which is straight from the amp into my loop pedal (using the onboard load-box/cab simulated line out) and lastly 'cuz it does'nt really belong in my fail thread

    Here's my official V2..

Jammed a bunch of 5th's at the start just to make it a bit different from last time lol, and it's less shreddy at the end too but otherwise it's the same bluesy hard rock kind of thing which I think this track cries out for..

keep it fun and simple and inclusive

Thanks DP, other than messing with it the other night for a bit to get a feel for it I think it was my 3rd take, maybe the 4th? I liked the feel and since it’s a “fun” thing I wasn’t so worried that it goes off a little.

Uhhhh... let’s not start overthinking it. It’s really more of a “showcase“ than a “contest.“ [emoji6]

Love the way the pros. always say "just a quick take". Like you know "I just did this in passing and no big deal"!!! LOL!!!

Well. I had a feeling this was gonna be good. And I wasn't wrong. Other than something a little "off" at 0:32 thru 0:36 I say it's flipping excellent. Good sound (although that's not on show here it does play a big part insofar as the listener is concerned). Technical. But at the same time melodic and listenable and entertaining. Not overdone in spite of the guitarists technical prowess and experience (I've watched his videos!!! LOL!!!) Yeh. What can else can I say!!!

Hmmmnnn... I'm bit spoiled for choice now when it comes to a "top pick"...

Which actually brings me to a point which I've been pondering for a while: why can we not add an ANONYMOUS poll here to this thread and members can vote for the best contribution or submission??? I don't see any harm in that. I mean: if you're hot you're hot and if you're not you're not (and if you're voted to be not hot well then you know what to do right i.e. redo and try and improve)??? Just as long as the votes are based PURELY on the performance and that the votes are not tainted by possible previous interactions or disagreements with the person or based on their posts i.e. PURELY on the performance in isolation.

I never said nor implied I know more than you. Just pointing out understanding a concept does not mean you can't ignore it and experiment.

OP updated. Looks like we have 10 participants so far, tied with last time (let me know if I missed yours however). I know I haven't gotten mine in...lots going on in life right now and many other priorities when it comes to recording, I will get one in eventually though.

So far lot's of good stuff. If you are looking for constructive criticism, please declare so when you post...but don't get too defensive either. The point of this is to have some fun and learn from others. Keep 'em comin'!
