  • First Time Recording With A JB/59

I've never recorded anything with a JB/59 combo, so I figured what the hell. The guitar is a stock Charvel San Dimas that's probably about a 2013-2015 model. I can't remember when I bought it. The guitars are done with a Fractal AX8 using an amp model based on a Cornford MK 50 II. The bass, middle, treble, presence, and depth are all on 7. The clean-ish part is with the Duncan 59 neck. It's nothing special, just a few riffs I threw together for the hell of it to record the combo.

Thing is Jolly, you are so effing musical, that you would sound good playing through a Cigar Box guitar using a refrigerator magnet pickup into a cassette recorder...

Not really....lol. I have a love hate relationship with the JB. I've had it in Les Pauls and it'll sound great on leads, but will be kind of flubby and grainy sounding on rhythms. This combo is in a Charvel, and it's completely opposite almost. In the Charvel it sounds good on rhythms, but it's really bright and plinky on leads. I think I might dig it in a Charvel with an A2 in it.

It's fine. I can pretty much get along with just about any neck for that.
