  • Whitesnake - Still Of The Night Solo Test

Thought I'd do a rough quickie here... purely freeform with no rhythm section.

I did chug some caffeine, however...

Yes Clint - still have that tune on the list... WAT

Gibson CS SG with Seth Lovers thru Universal Audio 2-610 tube preamp.

In DAW, it was UAD Suhr SE-100 amp plugin tweaked to sound like a Mesa MkIII, and various extras (Eventide Pitchfactor, UAD EMT140, etc).

First part of solo with pinchies was bridge pickup, 2nd part was neck pickup.

Well you probably have some sort of older Mesa Boogie (Mk III Coliseum is what Sykes used on that album) model in your Fractal.

All you need to add is a little pitchshifting (couple cents +/-, and 10-30ms delay between), so you get stereo.

Then lay down the rhythm tracks once, then twice (4 tracks total).

Add a little EQ & reverb to taste.

Solo tone has a bit more mids plus stereo delay (250ms on L, 400ms on R).

This isn't the exact setup he used of course, but gets you close.
