    Duncan Stormbringer pickups

Let me add my review of these for the public. I already mailed with "Fiesta Red" but maybe more people are interested in these. I though they were good but a tad on the bright side. I ultimately sold them as I felt the bridge pickup was underpowered compared to the neck pickup. I could have...

Why is a PAF Pro so bright?

You know what, I don't like the PAF Pro. In the neck it is too hot and has a muddy bass, especially the wound strings. In the bridge it is bright and kinda uninspiringly neutral sounding plus a tad underpowered with other pickups doing much better than the PRO, e.g. the Norton, Mo Joe or even...

    How can I De-VirtualVintage a DiMarzio?

How can one carefully pull them out? They are flush with the bobbin and there is no space whatsoever to insert something. Also, the wax potting works like an extra layer of glue on these... Not doubting, just asking if you can tell me a way of doing this.

    How can I De-VirtualVintage a DiMarzio?

Ok, so I tried a DiMarzio DP103 36th Anniversary PAF and it's on the murky and muddy side with an annoying midrange-pick attack emphasis (basically what I dislike about all DiMarzio patented tech Humbuckers that have either Air technology or their Virtual Vintage design). I opened the pickup...

Has Anyone Half-Aired Anything Other Than A Tone Zone?

I've half-aired an Air Norton into a Half-Air-Norton and really loved the improvement in pick attack (it got sharper) and the added output. It's been years now (2017) so I don't remember the specifics, but I remember I first de-aired one side and it got super muddy sounding, then I aired the...

    A3 vs A2

I agree with this. A2 sounds soft and mushy. A3 sounds like a degaussed A5. Kinda vintage-y without the mush

Seymour Duncan Announces The Slash 3.0 Pickup Set!

Isn't it exactly the other way around? He uses more Power Amp Distortion rather than Preamp Distortion, so his sound is actually cleaner than most think. He doesn't use too much preamp gain but pushes it with an upside-down smiley EQ. Hence it would made sense that he requires hotter pickups...

Seymour Duncan Announces The Slash 3.0 Pickup Set!

It has an A5! Confirmed! Btw, at first I thought it was April Fool's - when I read 3.0. Will be cool for my Strat Bridge

    Vintage APH1_J vs Modern APH-1

I'll be honest, I was on the same hype train and since I was obsessed with the sound of Slash at some point. Eventually I got a Vintage APH1-1N-J and APH-1B-J after searching for months. I compared it to the modern versions and found very little (if any) discernable difference in sound. Ok...

    JB Jr. for Tele

Lol, that's so funny! First time in my life I've been that lucky to ask a question and - WHOOP - 3 days later, that request magically appears: https://www.seymourduncan.com/single-product/jb-jr-for-tele

    JB Jr. for Tele

Why do you say that? (I wonder, in all these years with thousand of JB users (maybe millions?) I surely cannot be the first one to wonder)

    JB Jr. for Tele

Yes, mine only has a single route and I don't feel comfortable drilling a hole for a humbucker in it.

    JB Jr. for Tele

With the JB being the most popular HB, why is there no JB Jr. for Tele? Was quite surprised to see this, when I just acquired my first Tele and wanted to put a JB Jr. in the bridge of it... Any particular reason?

Dave Murray using a bridge humbucker in the neck spot on his black Strat for 2025

So regarding the black Strat from Dave Murray. While I've seen this Strat's pickup configuration change over the years (it has been seen with double parchment SD humbuckers, later with dual zebra humbuckers and now in what appears to be reverse Zebra humbuckers. It also had a parchement...
