I just bought a Fender American Elite Telecaster. I like the Pickups when I play clean. However I do not like how they distort. I like to play Led Zep, ZZ-Top, Aerosmith, Black Crowes, Jeff Beck, etc. What would you recommend ?

I bought a 1983 Tokai LS-80 that came with Sheptone PUPs. The Guitar is light and thin sounding. It sounds Hollow. The Sheptones are bright with lots of definition. The Guitar sounds good clean but it does not sound good distorted. It does not sound SOLID. I am thinking about replacement options...
