Test driving Legacy 3 head in the studio

I'm in the middle of getting some new gear dialed in for recording. Did a quick sample pass of the Legacy 3 head and the PDP Concept Maple drum kit. Not where I want them yet but I like where its heading.

    Electronics reboot for the Partsocaster

The Partsocaster was original designed like this... http://members.toast.net/dwyss/Pics/strat1.JPG The Breed bridge was everything I was hoping for. The Cruiser in the neck not so much. Very weak and dark.. Even darker when combined with the Breed. I tried everything. clearly not the right fit...

    Doh!

Just built/wired a HSH guard with PGn/vintage stack/59b and series/parallel switching for the humbuckers to install in my #1 mahogany body Warmoth strat style thinking it had an HSH route. I opened her up to realize it has a SC route in the Neck position.. Not happy about that at all but its my...

    MidiVerb 4 out of retirement

I retired my midiverb way back when when I went full ITB for recording. In recent months I have picked up a Legacy 3 and a Tweaker which both have effects loops. The first loops I have had since the 80's. I tend to prefer the analog pedals but I am going to bring this rack unit out of retirement...

Need help with ISO for recording different amps

Working with a Carvin Legacy 3, old Marshalls, an Egnater Tweaker and an old Fender through the ISO cab I built loaded with a Eminence ToneSpotter speaker So far the Tweaker has been doing OK. I have been able to dial up what I need without too much trouble at all. I did some testing last...

    NPD - Carbon Copy

Not boutique, trick or sexy but I picked up a Carbon Copy at lunch for $79 from GC that is at least cosmetically like new. I will test it out tonight to make sure its functional as well but I would hope someone plugged it in before putting it on the shelf. Assuming it checks out that is one of...

New Guts for the Mahogany Strat

Just finished ordering the pots and switches I need. It will be an H-S-H setup with a PGn - Vintage Rail - 59b setup. 1 - 5 way switch and a single 500k volume. No tone control. Mini toggles will flip the Neck and Bridge pickups between series and parallel.

    Carvin Legacy 3

I just placed the order... http://www.carvinguitars.com/products/VL300 First new or new to me big boy amp in 20 years. No worries though... The Plexi is not going anywhere. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uTuTq4gqZC0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AHXM34iDUM8...

    Seths in PRS

I love the Seths in my LP but I needed to radically adjust pu heights to balance the outputs. Want to put them in a PRS but I am not sure if there is enough room to get them balanced. Does anyone have any experience with this before I tear apart the guitar for nothing?

'Buckers to Parallel in H-S-H config

Thinking about an HSH setup with 59b/classic stack/PGn with 5 way for my mahogany strat. Was thinking about adding toggles to switch the 'buckers between series and parallel. The idea being that the parallel 'buckers would be brighter and much closer in output to a single coil and would maintain...

    Pickups for Yamaha SA2200

I have a pot or 2 going flaky on it. While its apart to fix that I figured it may be a good time to swap pickups. Seth Lover seems the obvious choice for the neck slot of a Semi-Hollow. I like the idea of a Seth for the bridge but I like that the current pickup balances well with the neck which...

Brightest noise cancelling SC in the Duncan line

Looking for a bright and jangly noise cancelling SC to put be between a 59b and a PGn in a HSH setup. Need the middle to bring the clean and bring out the cluck when combined with the humbuckers. Classic Stack? Vintage stack? Duckbucker?

    New Pedals Day

I just finished building a new compressor. Its documented here http://www.buildyourownclone.com/board/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=42749 Not a difficult build. I have only been able to do a functionality test on it since the family was asleep when I finished it but I expect it to function and sound as...
