I started playing guitar in 1978 when I was 12. Up until that point I played trumpet in school bands. A friend invited me over to jam with he (guitar) and his brother (drums). When his mom took me upstairs they were jamming Zep and Hendrix tunes and it blew me away how cool it was. Obviously my trumpet didn't fit in, so my new endeavor was to learn guitar. I didn't have much money, so I started saving. In the meantime, my father had met a fella who was really down on his luck and got him involve in their church. Come to find out, he was a guitarist and had even toured in opening bands for the Doobie Brothers and other larger groups through the 60's and early 70's. I was looking at buying a guitar through the Sears catalog when he (Steve) advised against it. Long story short, he sold me one of his guitars for almost nothing, a 1969 Gibson SG. It was also during this time I discovered Van Halen. That was all it took t and I have continued with it throughout my life.
