Hi! You can call me BedRock for short. I'm a 51-year-old rockasaurus and have been playing (counts on fingers) 40 years. For much of that time, I've played original progressive rock, citing Rush, Yes, and Genesis among my many influences. Lately, I've decided to make music that I hope will appeal to a broader audience of people from my generation, 40+. My roots are in acoustic singer-songwriter music in the vein of Carol King, Seals & Crofts, and The Moody Blues. I've changed both genres and styles. My most recent music has two components: the rock group which ranges from soft to medium classic rock, against a backdrop of ambient/electronic. Think Fleetwood Mac or Bad Company meets Klause Schulze. The hardest part for me is learning to write a 4-minute tune instead of a 20-minute instrumental excursion. My biggest guitar influences are Robin Trower and Steve Howe.
My music is my main interest. I also like to write stories or work on my screenplay for a kids TV show (which is just for fun).

- Occupation
- My last job was as a lab tech - a long time ago. I'm on the DL, now. My health is lousy but a little more tolerable than it used to be. I do have one good prospect. I've been contacted by a studio/production company regarding my music.
- My Gear
- My main electric is a modded Greg Bennett-designed Samick Torino TR1. My guitar has a more balanced tone with the deeper low-mids and bass of an LP, and treble that retains the characteristics of an SG without being shrill. My Fender American Deluxe Strat Plus is now my 2nd electric. I also have a Godin xtSA guitar/synth controller and a Roland GR33 guitar synth. My quiet, intimate acoustic is a Takamine EF-508C and my loud, punchy acoustic is an Ovation Elite deep bowl, and I have a very nice Yamaha dreadnought 12-string. The production company I mentioned made it possible for me to record the raw tracks of my songs here and upload them to Dropbox. Then they'd download them, mix and master them in their studio. Apparently, they like my tunes so much they sent me about $8000 worth of equipment. Happy birthday! No room to list it all but the amp they sent me is a Carvin V3M with a vertical 2x12 slant cab, along with a heap of stomp boxes.
- Duncan Pups I Have Experience With...
- I have a non-functioning 60th Anniversary Tex Mex Strat that came with a Duncan Li'l 59 bridge pup which I've turned into a project. The pickup sounded horrible, very muffled, and it's no wonder. It may be single-coil sized but it still has two coils. It needs to be treated as a humbucker. The previous owner neglected to upgrade the volume pot to 500K or 1Meg. My Samick Torino originally came with Duncan Designed pickups that correspond with the Duncan Distortion n/b set. They were harmonically rich, bright, tight and powerful - great for hard rock or metal. I play at mid-gain, however, and ceramic mag pups aren't well-suited for that. At lower levels of gain the highs tend to be brittle, the mids, flat and lifeless. I still think they're exceptional for stock pickups on a mid-priced instrument.
