I installed a '59 in the neck (1 pickup Ibanez Artcore semi-hollow that has a HB in the neck only and a vol/tone {Pat Metheny model} ) and made the volume a DPDT (push-pull pot). That allows parallel if the shaft is pulled and it works OK. The parallel sound is definitely weaker than the series...
