i have come by a bass made out of after market parts ( P bass stile ) but now needs pickups but i know nothing about basses. it has a spot for a 2 peace P bass PU , middle & a jazz PU , bridge . what would be a good choice to start ?? pls help.

when changing magnets from alnico to ceramic how much difference to the sound & tones does it make ? will fitting a ceramic magnet to a JB make it sound like a DD (SH6) or is it some thing else in the middle ? i guess i am asking is how total is the transormation ?

i am thinking of fitting a new magnet to a pickup & was hoping some one may have done it before & can tell me fi there is any thing i sould know before diving in ??

if some one can enlighten me as i don't know what the big fuss is between Ceramic & Alnico magnets & what part it plays in your over all sound ?? pls talk slow as i have been a drummer over the last 20 years .

i am looking for a hot pickup with a lot of harmonic content & bright on the top end. out of the SH6 & SH15 which would be, 1 hotter , 2 brighter,& 3 the greatest harmonic screamer out of these two ? if any one has used them i would really like your comments .
