    Mixing Fender and Duncan pickups

I'm putting a Hot Rails in the bridge and Cool Rails in the neck of my new Fender American special Strat. I want to keep the stock Texas Special single coil in the middle. I also added a pull-pull pot for coil splitting. I searched on this forum and found a thread from a while ago where someone...

    Is this wiring possible?

Can I wire three single coil sized humbuckers in series with just a standard 5-way switch and one push-pull pot to switch them all three to parallel?

What pickups do you have in your HSH and HSS axes?

And how do you like them?

How loud are the vintage rails/duckbuckers really?

According to the output ratings on the website, the vintage rails should have more output than the cool rails neck. According to the same ratings the SSL-6 should also be louder than the cool rails. But I know it's not true. Not even close! So, how loud are the vintage rails/duckbuckers really...

Duncan Distortion neck vs Black Winter neck

I'm trying to decide which of these to get for my Gibson SG. What are the differences and pros and cons of both? I listened to the sound samples, but it's not my guitar or amp, so it's difficult to make a judgement.

Neck pickup recommendation for Gibson SG? Black Winter?

Ok, so far I've tried: -Stock 490R: muddy & weak -Jazz neck: too bright and weak (but I love it in my Les Paul) -Distortion neck: actually pretty good, lots of sustain, but too bassy for cleans -'59 neck: too bright and sterile, not at all what I expected I put a Custom SH-5 in the bridge and...

    Quarter pound SSL-4 quack?

I have a Fender Strat with a hot rails bridge, cool rails neck and SSL6 middle. I have a pull-pull pot to split the rails. I can't stand the SSL6, so I'm throwing it out. Compared to the other two pickups, it lacks high end and output and sounds weak, dull and muddy. The rails actually have...

    WTB: chrome/nickel covered humbucker set

I'm looking for a set to put in my Gibson SG, preferably with a higher output bridge pickup. Also possible: trade with Gibson 2016 black 490t/490r set.

Hot rails bridge in neck position?

How would a hot rails bridge sound in the neck? I have one lying around without a purpose right now and I have a HSS guitar that potentially needs a humbucker in the neck. How would it sound? Or would it be too much?

    Wiring diagram needed

Hi, I'm looking for something particular for a HSS configuration with a Dimarzio Super Distortion Bridge, Duncan SSL-6 middle and Hot Rails neck: -Auto-split in positions 2 and 4 -Tone control for bridge and middle ONLY, so no tone for the Hot Rails neck, as I want it to be just a little...

Pot value for Duncan custom (custom) and SSL6 in Fender Strat

I ordered a Duncan Custom to put in the bridge of my Strat and a SSL6 to put in the neck. Mind you, this guitar is VERY bright. It has an alder body and maple neck and fretboard. After I bought it new, I first threw some hot rails in which worked fine, but now I'm after a more traditional Strat...

    Magnet swapping question

Hi, I ordered a new Custom SH-5 to put in my Fender Strat. I have a few magnets lying around in case I want to make it a CC or C5. My question is: how do I know which sides are 'top' and 'bottom' and which are 'up' and 'under'? So what's the direction I have to put it in and how can I know?
