here's a pic of a SD '59 screw coil and a slug coil. the two coils have obviously different colors. one thing i noticed is my antiquity humbuckers(neck & bridge, bothh 2005) have the darker wire like the screw coil on the 59 and my seth lover bridge(2004) has the lighter colored wire like on...

there's a tip from the torres engineering catalog(www.torresengineering.com) on brightening or increasing the output of a pickup(paf style) slightly by cutting the excess screws at the bottom of the pickup.it says it reduces stray magnetic fields thus increasing the efficiency of the pickup.

would a sd jazz(neck) sound like an alnico 2 pro(neck) if i change the magnet to an alnico 2 or 3? i think they're made of the same wire and the dc resistance is pretty close. any thoughts?
