I have my '59 on my Gibson.. I turned on my amp.. Played clean, very satisfied with my clean bright sound, AMAZING.. Switched to channel 2 + contour (high gain).. The '59 was very responsive and didn't get muddy but it had this strange sound i cannot really describe. I think what I am thinking...

How many space should I leave between strings & humbuckers? I mean, if they are far, how would it sound in comparison with a very close humbucker? How do they differ in tone and what is the "standard" spacing that you should leave?

how would a custom 8 sound in mahogany? how does it sound? not muddy, not dark right? also, does it retain a little PAF vintage vibe?
