    Are the Suhr Aldrich a good alternative for the EMGs 81/85?

    I know the 81 is ceramic vs the Aldrich with Alnico V, but im talking about having enough output. I also know the 81 is quite unique but i just dont want to go the active route again and i heard good opinions about the Aldrich humbuckers. btw the guitar would be a Les Paul Custom thru a JCM 800.

    Alnico 2 Pro in a Les Paul Custom (maple neck)?

    Would it be a good choice? or 59s? Its a '78 LPC, maple neck with stock pickups. I do like em, but for the gig im playing they are a too weak. I'd like something more powerful but without going into JB/Custom territory. I just use a boost/EQ pedal for lead playing and directly into a JMP.
