Does anyone know where I can find staggered pole magnets (alnico II's or V's)for a custom-built strat pickup project?

I have read that in vintage strat pups the winding wire is in direct contact with the magnet poles. Therefore, moving the poles can damage the windings. Does anyone know WHAT vintage this issue may effect ('62 & older, '66 & older, etc.) And are there procedures to follow. Thanks for any help...

Any feedback on Rio's Texas / BBQ humbucker set in a LesPaul? Sounds closest to what Seymour's?

Iv'e got a '79 LesPaul Standard "KM" with original humbuckers. Neck pup sounds muddy / no string def. / too much bottom even with pup dropped low - especially when backing off the volume pot. I want to replace it but without knowing specs on the original, I'm not sure where to start. Playing...
