    Amplifier Build/Giveaway 5E3 inspired.

Well, we used a 230v to 120v converter, it was plug an play, and dead on. Sweden is amazing! If you are ever wondering of a place to go, place it on your short list. I went to Stockholm, and the transit there is second to none. There will be more video's in the near future, I have to edit them....

    New PRS "Tempest" Dumble-Inspired Amps!

Let me tell you about the amp business :) I can tell you there is NOT $4.5k worth of value in the product. It likely cost PRS 1/3 that price ( or less ) to actually produce. Assembled in USA doesn't mean much these days, as it is highly likely that much of the product is stamped out in China...

Played a Peavey JSX and XXX cab

I owned that combination ( XXX + XXX-cab ) and it never really called to me. I still have the head and the cab, but swapped the speakers years ago. The original sheffields are a bit thin and have an upper mid range honk to them I never liked. The amp itself is fine, but always sounded too thin...

Bugera G5 head stopped outputting sound

I know this is a Necro thread, but thought I would follow up and hammer in a point I was trying to make earlier. These dime a dozen amps are truly nothing more than E-Waste crap. The why is obvious, the reason is even more insideous. I had a family friend ( passed away ) who was an inventor. I...

    Amplifier Build/Giveaway 5E3 inspired.

Just as an FYI, someone from Sweden won the amp. The Builder of the amp ( me ) also flew there to hand deliver the amp. Just imagine if you spent a few minutes :)

Bugera G5 head stopped outputting sound

10 to 1 it is the same value as the " good " one. Both devices are the same, both capacitors are the same, and the value numbers are sequential ( C134 - C135, R201 - R202 ). That resistor got HOT, so it very much changed the color of the bands. This pic isn't much better, but it is clear enough...

    Raising Tremolo Volume....

When you say louder, do you mean more range? This is a more unique tremolo stage. It utilizes a negative bias circuit driven by the 6SN7 ( I think that's what it says? ) to cause the 6V6 to oscillate. These are the three resistors I would mess with. The lower one will more likely adjust the...

    Someone explain this to me.

Place that same curve next to a typical 12" woofer, and it will have a similar trace though. Most mid-band speakers roll off around 5khz. That's why a guitar sounds like a guitar regardless of what speaker you play it through. A typical instrument microphone has a pretty much linear response...

    New amp build series?

I have not put much effort into updating this thread mainly because all my time was spent building the amp and documenting it. I have finished the build as of Jan 1st and have spent the past week getting media done and getting ready to hand it off to the event coordinators holding the...

    Celestion Creamback Review

I am more or less an amp collector. I own six different amps, and I only have four cab options. Most of the cabs I own are inexpensive, unpopular, or something you would never catch me dead in public with. One is loaded with a quartet of G12T75's from the 90's, one is loaded with a pair of...

    New amp build series?

I have been commissioned to build an amp for a fundraiser where I live; which gives me a chance to VLOG another build series. I am gauging whether it is worth the energy to do another build series. Only for two reasons: 1. It takes about 2X as much time to do the build. And I never totally...

YouTube series on Why You love your amp so much

I am thinking of starting a YouTube series called Why You love it so much; a series about the amplifier of choice and what makes it tick. The hope is to allow you to understand why you love that amp so much. I am gauging interest in such a series and perhaps some help in direction and schematic...

PCB evolution, you may have thought it was better by now...

So as I usually do, I randomly pick YT videos to watch. Many are related to electronics, as I am a guitar amp builder and electronics tinkering machine. It is often argued that PCB guitar amps are just as good as PTP ( Point To Point ) constructed amps; some may even say superior. I am in the...

Let's build the best amplifier you will ever play...

I'm putting this here more as a placeholder and a way to force myself to do things I hate to do and hold myself accountable for creating content and media. Much of what you read/see here will be in future YouTube videos that I will link here and this will be a park page, if you will, for all the...
