The 'maters are enjoying a second wind!
I put them under the North side of my house, just as you suggested. I knew it was gonne be necessary, but the plants' wire cages kinda got locked-in to the rebar/tractor trailer brake drums (thems is heavy!!!)/masonry on top of the 12"x12" concrete squares.

Old setup, months ago, before the heat (even with the addition shade cloth later):
Today: A crap picture of the smallest tomato hornworms I have ever seen! They are not impressive, had NO green color, and were less than 1/4" long. The diameter was far less than the fuzzy image indicates. They had a funny, singular, brown, forward pointing, horn-like hair sticking out of their heads! The only reason why I even post a this, is that I have NEVER seen an image of juvenile hornworms on the net.
