A3 Magnet For The Bridge, Too

I have a Zhangbucker Brownbucker. The A2 it came with smoked when overdriven but, in that guitar, was too much in the mids. A3 was perfect. The added clarity in the upper mids/highs did the trick. All the A2 creaminess and feel remained. Also put an A3 in an SD '59 Neck. Best neck I've heard so...

PAF with similar eq to the C5

I have had a Custom (C5 and CUOA5 back and forth) bridge and an UOA5 '59 neck in a Hamer Studio for about 2 years. I find the Custom 5 the closest in tone to what works in the bridge of that guitar, but a little hot and bright at the top end. The '59 neck might be best with an A2. I am...

    Good replacement for C5?

I have a Studio Hamer (double cut) which I really like. It is quite a bit lighter than an LP, so I imagine that getting close to an LP tone may be a little tough....it doesn't have the same rich bottom end. I have an UOA5 '59 in the neck and a C5 in the bridge. The neck is something I like...

Anyone try an AII Pro with an A8?

I like the A2P bridge, but wish it had a tad more driving capability. I have a Dr. Z Carmen Ghia. If I had a Boogie or a higher-gain channel switcher, it wouldn't be an issue. Maybe I need another amp!:fingersx: Has anyone tried this?

    59/Custom compared to various Customs

What could one expect from a 59/Custom hybrid compaered to a CUOA5, C5, C8, or other Custom variant. Presently, I have a CUOA5, but would like a tad less output and a sound with a little more girth.

    Custom 5 tone question

I'm about to pull the trigger on a C5 to replace a UOA5 '59 presently installed on my Hamer Studio bridge. I originally had a JB in the bridge, but I have grown to like a bit more of the PAF tone. The only reason that I would replace the UOA5 '59 is for a better balance with the '59 neck. From...

    Comparing the '59 and Custom5

I have a Hamer Studio (LP/PRS territory). It came with a JB/'59 combo. About two months ago, I swapped the JB for a '59 because of the broad mid-range of the JB and to try something else. After 2 weeks I put an UOA5 in the bridge '59 and it tamed the highs and added some mids. Almost there now...

Rio Grande BBQ and Texas magnets

Rio's website doesn't indicate mag type for their pickups.....any idea what they use for those two?

    '59 bridge magnet question(s)

I have a Studio Hamer I really like. I recently swapped the JB for a '59 in the bridge. The JB wasn't horrible in that position, but had two things I didn't like: 1- Under any overdrive (except the slightest drive), it really compressed a lot. Step on a pedal for a lead, and the volume almost...

    Seymour '59 pot value question

I have a Studio Hamer (PRS/LP type) that had a '59 (neck) and a JB (bridge). I put a '59b in the bridge. I mostly like the improvement, though the bridge is, as some have mentioned, a tad bright, especially clean. I read that some have changed the bridge volume and tone to a 250k. The issue with...
