Re-biasing would only change so much. You're working with the larger transformers from a 100 watter for both power (higher current handling) and output (straight-up larger iron that doesn't saturate when pushed by only two EL34s).

The el cheapo humbuckers that came in my wife's Squier Bullet Mustang actually sound really good! I gave the thing a good setup and tested it out through my rig and the guitar just sounded really nice!

Jazzmasters are quite versatile guitars, clean or with dirt.

Here's a question for ya: Which Floyd nut are you working with that you're trying to modify it and how much lower does it need to be? I ask because maybe you just have the wrong nut. They come in different heights.

I do think some of that is down to impedance matching and preamp designs on interfaces not being optimized for guitar on a lot of interfaces. Yes, I know that some advertise "PLUG YOUR GUITAR STRAIGHT IN!" but... Marketing is often run in parallel to engineering rather than as a combined...

That's the funny thing... I got my Gretsches for that jangle. I'm the weirdo that EQs my tone by switching guitars. It's why I have six Jaguars (amongst 42 total currently assembled guitars). 🤪🤪🤪

For strings I've somehow gone UP to 11s. I've been mostly using 11-49 NYXLs, but my PRS SE Holcomb has a custom 11-54 set of NYXLs. I do have 10-46s on a couple guitars still, and anything with a Floyd is still strung with 9-42 mainly because I haven't changed them in ages, but that may go up...

And even with that it was still not ideal. That's kinda my point. I did also have the 202. In fact I'm looking across my office at it on the shelf right now. LOL I would suggest trying a pedal that's buffered in bypass mode or just a straight-up buffer in between the guitar and the interface...
