When Seymour rewound Ed's original PAF did he simply rewind the "broken" coil or did he do the whole thing? I was reading a post that said it was done once prior to the first album and then again in 1981 to 14k.
I'm curious if it's more in line with the 59/custom hybrid or a symetrical type wind.
I got a Super Distortion (my first Dimarzio) and want to put an A5 magnet in it .... but the darn thing won't budge! I've swapped plenty of magnets in Duncans, but no luck removing the Dimarzio. Are they glued in?
I've never played a Super Distortion but I'm wondering if anyone has compared it to a 59/custom hybrid. Do share any similarities (yes, I know they don't have the same magnet and one is asymetrical).
Been looking around for a black dog eared Antiquity P90 and don't know where to find one. Anyone have some links?
Also, how is the output compared to a vintage one? I know a lot of folks love the Antiquity humbuckers but say it's even better with a stronger, full strength magnet.
I know this...
I've got a slant from '74. Large checks, smooth levant, pretty good shape.
I'd like to trade for a '70s straight ... and I don't care about condition.
Oh yeah, I'm keeping the speakers so I'm just talking about the empty cab.
These are the same ones that come on the Brian Setzer model guitars and are considered better than the currently available "stock" Gretsch Filtertrons. I got these for an Electromatic DuoJet project that I gave up on. These are the "classics" meaning they're reproductions of the originals, not...
All 4 speakers are 16ohm and in excellent condition.
The G12H30s are the anniversary models and the Greenbacks are reissues. I'm clearing house since I got some blackbacks.
$150 per pair + shipping
I'm thinking of getting a Gretsch electromatic Duo Jet. It has some TV Jones designed mini humbuckers that sound okay, but nothing like the Filtertron pickups in the more expensive models. Does Duncan offer something that will fit in the Electromatic route (it actually looks bigger than the dual...
I've got one in the neck and middle position of my guitar. It gets a really thick sound but it doesn't seem to be very accurate for Hendrix. Sounds more SRV to me ... darker and heavier.
Would the surf Antiquitys be better ... or maybe a plain old regular Duncan single coil for Hendrix?
I'm wondering what THE pickups set is for Hendrix.
I've got the Antiquity Texas Hots and I love the warmth ... but maybe they're a little too hot? I don't seem to have the sparkling clarity that I hear with other single coils. They sound more like SRV.
What do you think ... maybe the Antiquity...
