Hi I am going to put a finish on my guitar neck. It is a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. I was wondering if should mask off the fretboard and put a finish on only the maple or put a finish on the whole neck. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am considering buying a musikraft neck and they offer their shellac finish as their standard finish for no extra cost. I was just wondering if having a shellac finish alone would be good enough to protect the neck. thanks
