  • Generally I like his music better during the SG days, but there are some gems he recorded with his custom Floyd strat in the 80's. He also did some neat things with the whammy bar, which seemed to replace his use of the wah pedal. It seemed like people stopped using a wah in the early 80's because it got a label of "70's porn music machine" or something. His 80's music was hit or miss though... way too political and almost everything they did live had a reggae beat to it.
Excellent comment on Zappa and his wah usage (legendary, I would even say). Speaking of Uncle Frank- I was just thinking that the most underrated live masterpieces of all time is Roxy and Elsewhere. I feel the SG was perfect for FZ, not the Strat (and I'm a Strat player myself).
Yeah, my experience with the Tone Zone was that it depends on the guitar. They seem to work better in bolt-ons with maple necks/boards. The S version seems to be just a tad bit more scooped but it has a similar growl.
Thanks man - I replaced the hotrails with a tonezone s in my speedster and its exactly what i wanted...I would have never thought of it as i freaking hated the fullsize tonezone..great call.
Sorry, I just didn't like where it was headed. Maybe I'll make another thread, worded differently. Just the "I don't care what the audience thinks" and the presumptions of how a person makes a living playing in bands (covers or otherwise) didn't sit well and tells me something about how a lot of people are just bedroom players who wank for themselves, talk about gear but have no idea what it takes to hone a product worth selling to the public. You are not one of those people... you seem to "get it". :)
Dood... why'd you delete your thread? I don't think that I read every post, but were some poeple getting pissy or something? I sure wasn't.
