    Which Single Coil?

Hi Folks, I have an Ibanez RG1570L with Alnico Pro II humbuckers in the Neck and Bridge, but the original Ibanez S1 pickup in the middle. Question is, what's the best complementary SD pickup to replace it with? I'm a huge G N' R /Slash fan as far as tone goes. Cheers :bigok:

    Recommend scales for soloing?

Can anyone recommend some scales that would be good to learn for soloing? Just been listening to Soulman's 'Classic Rock Solo' and it got me wondering what scale/s where used? Cheers

    Floating Trem Nightmare!!!

I figured it was time to change the strings on my Ibanez RG1570L as it still had the original crappy strings on there. I bought some Ernie Ball 'Slinky Top, Heavy Bottom' strings and fitted them. I tuned it up and realised that with the guitar in tune the floating tremolo was being lifted...

    Tuning using Hz

Howdy, What reference fequency should I set my tuner to to tune down half a step accurately? I know 440 is the standard for A, but what about Ab? I've tried tuning using the 440 reference and trying to get the flat notes but just not accurate. Cheers :)

    Acoustic Strings?

ok, so I just got my first acoustic and I'm discovering that it's a whole different animal to the electric I'm used to playing and I just wondered what strings you'd recommend? I can only make a whole step bend on the High E and B strings, the others are impossible to bend enough to hit the...

Acoustic strap - where do I put it??

Howdy, I just got back from Visiting Ann Arbor near Detroit and picked up a lovely Acoustic while I was there. The problem is that I can't figure out where to attach the strap? The strap pin on the bottom of the guitar is there but the fishman pickup controls are where the other strap pin...

Classic Marshall tone without the cost??

Ok, is there a Marshall tube amp that would give me the classic Marshall tone but without the cost?? - I'm talking about something smaller and quieter than the JCM800 2555 that I dream of :D Even a 10-20watt amp would do as long as the tone is sweet - is there any such amp??

    Gibson LP Voodoo

Has anyone here owned or played one of these babies?! Gibson Les Paul Voodoo They're discontinued now I understand, and the chances of there being a lefty version are pretty slim - but they are my favorite Gibsons and I'd love to know if they sound as good as the classic LP's.

    Marshall MS2, MS2C, MS4

Has anyone else got one of these? I needed something portable I could stick in my guitar case so I can practise pretty much where ever, so I got an MS2C on friday, only £20 from Electrohill It's pretty loud for a 1 watt amp and the clean channel is good. Overdrive makes the plastic case...

    G n' R backing tracks

Hi, Do any of you guys have a good quality copy of the 'Knocking on Heaven's Door' backing track? I have 'Sweet Child o' Mine', 'Paradise City', 'You Could Be Mine' and 'Welcome to the Jungle' which I'd be happy to let you have. I also have all of the backing tracks from Lick Library.com...

    Soloing over power chords?

Ok, I'm at that special time in my life where I need to write my first solo for an exam piece - I'm excited and scared and more than a little clueless. The piece is in the style of 'Led Zepplin - Smoke on the water' and the solo part is 8 barres long (4/4 time/110bpm) and the chord sequence is...

    Technique Comments Please

A thread in the Sound Off room reminded me about 'bio-feedback' practise, stuff like watching yourself play in the mirror or recording yourself playing to help study and perfect your technique. I thought I'd give it a shot and recorded me struggling through the Sweet Child Intro (again :))...
