Mojotone vs. Philadelphia Luthier Tools magnets

Appears the vendor experience thread subject is being addressed. From the text, magnet quality? Not sure what vendor would invest in this. Felt a little like maple spacers, butyrate bobbins, bumblebee caps, etc., however I did some research anyway. Short of buying a gaussmeter and becoming...

The pros & cons of alder?

I had access to some rough sawn Oak which had been drying for 90 years. I thought that should look cool and make a super stable guitar body. Came up with a cool body design too. Then I went to lift one of the Oak boards. Might have been a candidate for the Guinness Record of heaviest guitar...

Poll - Who Is Using A Jazz III ?

These have a Metallic Gold print, so maybe the metal flake contributes, or the Pitch Black moniker means it us supposed to wear off? If anyone else is using them, maybe they will share their experience with them.

New Fire Fly single cut. Wow 1980's look.

I noticed that also. First thought it might be a pick, but more likely a reflection from the lighting.

Poll - Who Is Using A Jazz III ?

Either Tortex has changed over the years, or the printing on them has changed. The age of any chosen Yellow Tortex in a case is unknown, but there is enough print left on it so anyone could tell what it is. My Pitch Black is effectively blank after 5 days. I am practicing more, but not that...

Have DR Strings Improved Their Consistency?

It could have been some, undetected for a while, issue in the manufacturing process. At one point I bought 50 sets of GHS Tremolo Boomers for my Kahler'd Fenders. Every pack I have pulled out, the G string (always the problem child isn't it?) has a tiny tarnished spot in the same place. That...

2025 is the Year of Purple Guitars --> Let's See 'Em!

I own one, a Reverb purchase from pvholic. My daughter picked it up locally. She's a multi-instrumentalist, whose favorite color is purple, and it never seems to make that final leg of shipping. I have been able to play it on a few visits. Alerting @Artie , as I mentioned it in a Thread of his.

Hmm. . . What do you think of this?

Reclaimed parts from Mighty Mite can produce a decent guitar. I am remembering George Lynch's original Tiger Stripe Stratocaster was built from a bunch of parts he found in boxes back on the shelves at Mighty Mite.

Poll - Who Is Using A Jazz III ?

The Nylon "Max Grip" was in the variety pack. It was easy to hold and keep consistent. But for me it still "slips" off the strings when compared to Tortex. I tried the Gator Grips a few years back. They felt about the same as Tortex and were more stable when picking. But I literally ground...

Poll - Who Is Using A Jazz III ?

This is a large part of it for me. I have been using the Tortex for approaching 40 years. Even with the raised stuff on the Red Jazz, the Nylon still feels slippery to me. Also feels like it "slips" off the strings.

Poll - Who Is Using A Jazz III ?

I was thinking the advantage of the bumps on the Red Nylon Jazz III were for grip. I just finished a couple hours using the Tortex Pitch Black Jazz III 1.35mm It seems to have almost everything the Red does except those raised bumps. Feels like Tortex in my hand as well. So it appears the...

My Lead II. Fender tones, Les Paul weight and no middle pickup. ;)

Poll - Who Is Using A Jazz III ?

I do not know if I am bonding with the Red Nylon Jazz III. It is not bad; something is just a little off. It is thick after 30+ years of Yellow Tortex., but somehow I think thickness is contributing to keeping me more accurate. Exaggerating, but like I am more precisely lifting it over the...
