So as a beginner what kind of effects should I get for practicing (and planning to play outside soon) ? I actually have a Friedman BE-OD as my distortion do I have to add some effects ? what kind ?

So I just restrung my guitar and I'm going to tune in do drop b but every single time I broke the 2nd string(tuning to G#) I'm using a chromatic tuner but still when I tune in to G(2nd string) and increase a little bit it's gonna break.. I am using 10-52s gauges I just don't understand why ? and...
