I SO did not see this coming

There's this band called The Subways who I've been getting into lately, particularly their pretty cool Nirvana-ish guitar sound. For example, listen to their first single: http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=TLIquztdlnw Pretty straightforward raucous rock, you'd think. Nice SG and everything...

    Y'know the Marshall MG series...?

... well, what are they based on? Are they basically solid-state imitations of the DSL range? Or are they going after a different marshall era? Or just a sound of their own?

    Laney VC15

I can get one relatively cheaply. Any good? Headroom isn't an issue :)

So, am I just plain Weird????

Sigh. As you good people may have gathered, I have G.A.S. But a rather odd strain of the disease. Specifically, I have a desire for a tone that is mostly inspired by, er, a certain 90's band from Manchester who shall remain nameless. Since I don't have the ability or room to get my...

Anyone tried the EHX English Muff'n?

http://www.guitar.co.uk/electro-harmonix/120-electroharmonix_english_muffn?page=3 Looks decent, sounds OK on Youtube (altho the guy trying it was playing a Strat - not for me!), and a reasonable price for something with tubes in it... anyone here played one?

So, what's your most horrible guitar finish?

There's lots of threads going on about how beautiful the latest Les Paul in Flametop-amber-antique-glossy-iced-tea looks. But come on, let's see the colours and finishes that you can't stand. If it made you look at a guitar and go :omg: , then stick it up here! For starters, this guitar is...

    Vox Modelling in the valvetronix

Hi everybody :D So, the v-amp is getting clunky, and I'm seriously considering a Valvetronix AD30VT. It's affordable, popular, has a valve, does several different things, and looks groovy - plus it dispenses with the cables and "is the poweramp colouring my tone?" issue of a desktop modeller...

Y'know, maybe I'm being a bit hard on the Marshall MG range...

After all this time wrestling with my V-amp and my Fender 650 (which is one heck of a good box, but just not working too well with the v-amp), I tried plugging my blue thing into the crummy little marshall MG15 DFX I got along with my guitar. And it sounded good - the V-amp sounds warmer, and...

Need help from those with Pods & V-amps....

I'm having some trouble getting decent soudns out of my V-amp, through my Fender 650 SS amp. When I was playing it just there, everything sounded very trebly and sharp, even the fairly warm-sounding crunch model. I then had a thought, and put it into the "power-amp in" slot of my amp...

Boss OD-20 twin pedal - thoughts?

Hey all, Saw this on a website, and it reminded me of how tempting this looked to me a while back. In the end, I got a single yellow Boss pedal, then a V-amp 2, so I'm not sure I'd need this any time soon... but if gigging, it might prove useful in front of a tube amp... Anyone tried this...

    Dots, Blocks or whatevers?

Further to the thread in the "Off Topic" room, I thought we'd see exacly what everyone thinks about this. The question is - what do you prefer, inlay-wise, on your electric guitar? And why? If you had a dream axe, what would it have? Discuss!

    Marshall head... but what cab?

Hi ho everyone, Seems to me like a lot of pro guitarists use marshall heads, but different 4x12 cabs (eg. Peavey). Some even use Orange heads through Marshall cabs. Is this really a common thing? And do other cabs give better sonic results, in your opinion, with a marshall head? Discuss!

Bah to Line 6 - Yay Behringer!

Lol, thought that may get people interested... this goes out to those who use the V-amp (or v-ampire). What settings do you like using, and for what kind of sound? My fave is the "crunch V-amp" at around 3/4 gain, bass 3, mid 5, treble 7. Gives me a good crunch at low volume on my guitar...

    Further to the Flamed Explorer...

...what's the clumsiest thing that you have done to a guitar? Shortly after buying a hard case for my Epi 335, I accidentally dropped a DUMBELL weight onto it from a few feet up. That's right, one of those heavy black weights you get on dumbells. It made a BIG bash in the side of my case...

I'm FINALLY a member of the Seymour Brotherhood :D

Got my Epi 335 back today, compleye with '59 slapped into the bridge!!!!!!! :) Soooo.... Major difference is the CLARITY. The stock Epi couldn't decide whether it was gonna be muddy or jangly, and often ended up being a horrible combo of both. The 59 sounds like the stock, only like it's...
