I hope none of you waste your money on Monster Rock cables...

I was having a "tone issue" and it turned out that it was the twelve foot length of Monster Rock between my pedal board and the amp..... :smack: The board has a buffer on it. Replaced the cable and my rig sounds fine. And, there is nothing wrong with the Monster cable - other than it's a POS...

OMG - MORE SHI*! (brian may and purple coils)

Yep, I paid too much for this, but I would have paid more for a less-awesome sounding and very much less useful practice/beginner amp. Seems like it's somewhat of a collector's item. I remember when they were first out, my local music store had a pallet of them and I was thinking what a joke...

    NPD: Super impressed with Xotic

Well, The mailman brought my shipment from Pyremaxe today, and in it: a Xotic SL drive & Tremonti Wah Morley Tremonti Wah: My initial thoughts on the wah were that it's made by a reputable company, in the USA, with a unique optical design, and it sounds good enough for Mark Tremonti to use...

    Gassy glass attack

HELLO FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS, So, it turns out that my Dual Recto actually came with a quad of vintage Tesla EL34's from the last production of the Czech factory. Way cool. But I went further and ordered a handful of new tubes from Doug's (great vendor, excellent shipping practices, btw)... 3...

a clip of my new 1993 Dual Rectifier

EDIT: (everything the same, but the i5 is on a Groove Tubes "The Brick" mic preamp https://soundcloud.com/hotdogg/93-dual-recto-w-the-brick https://soundcloud.com/hotdogg/93-dual-recto-sample it goes from Orange channel with guitar's vol rolled back, to full-on Orange, to Red channel, back to...

I have a strat with an SSL-3 and Fender neck, middle, so the Polarities don't match

Would the Classic Stack Plus STK-S4 go well with the SSL-3 in the bridge? There's no clips on the Duncan site, only for the apparently discontinued STK-S1. I would get SSL-1's but I find the noise annoying. But, I want that sound, or 95% of it. Any suggestions?

    Latest pedal build

Re: Latest pedal build It's a little different than any BMP's I've owned, and better because of the tonal shaping options. It's not as Buzzy, and it's more distortiony. I don't know how similar the real one is to the clone, but I imagine it's pretty much the same. Here's mine:

Three thumbs up for the Crazy 8!!! Awesome pickup!

Maybe that's not a thumb... anyway, this pickup is hawt! I didn't think anything would top a Pearly Gates, but this is it. I finally got around to installing the Crazy 8 I got in a trade with Metalmaniac. It's in my Schecter Blackjack with a PGb reverse mounted in the neck position. I can only...

Does it matter which method you use to wire the tone cap?

I've seen schematics (like the 2 attached) with the cap going from vol pot to tone pot lug #1 and middle lug to ground, and then I've seen the cap going from middle lug to ground on the tone pot. I recently wired in a new tone pot in a 2H vol + ton configuration with the cap bridging vol and...

Crazy UOA5? Crazy 8 with alternative magnets and why?

haven't tasted the Crazy 8 yet, but what do you think it would sound like with an UOA5? A4? A2? Since it has the parallel axis poles how would that affect the tone? And the wind on this "forum-special" in particular has what sort of tonal contributions? YOU GUYS MADE IT, SO YOU TELL ME :naughty:

NPD, click click tweak tweak tweak - pretty much everyone has one

I'm having fun with my Egnator Tweaker head, flippin' switches and tweakin knobs on my pedals, click click goes the footswitch! Pretty much everyone has one already, so you probably have your own opinions on the TweakFuzz by Seymour Duncan, but I'm liking it. It's got a cool mix of smooth Big...

    Egnater Tweaker Demo (clean)

So, it's been a few weeks since I bought an Egnater Tweaker, and I've figured out where the controls sound good. I haven't got a chance to tweak the power tubes yet, but I've done a lot of tweaking on the knobs and switcheroos. The last clip I did when I first got the amp wasn't quite right, and...
