why only 1 caps used on a strat?

I have a strat wired with the 2nd tone controlling the Bridge and Mid pup. Why do the schematics call for a cap only on the neck tone knob? Does that apply to both tones?

    reverse polarity on tele neck?

I've seen that there is a way to alter a tele bridge pup to reverse the polarity, but I just got a JD(which is unbelievably cool!) for my MIM, and it is out of phase from the stock neck. I'd rather not mess with the JD- is there a way to reverse the neck pup? Thanks y'all.

    Vox AC 15cc1

Anyopne here have any experience with one of these? I have an opportunity to get one for real cheap ($300) and wondered if I should go for it. It sounds pretty nice, but are these known for being unreliable? I've heard that about el84 tubes. Thanks.

    Relaced EVH with '59

This thing sounds great! I loked the EVH, but just wanted to experiment. The guitar is a warmoth- mohagony with maple top- strat, maple neck and rosewood fretboard. The '59 has awesome cleans- some of the best humbucker cleans i've heard. More bottom end, as well. Very cool tones. I have a...

    ssl-5 bottom plate

Why does this pup have a different shaped bottom plate than other vintage type pups?

    power conditioners

I'm interested if any of y'all have experience with power conditioners- both for my amp, and one for our PA system, which is a med/small sized mainly for average sized clubs (I don't know the exact power specs, if thats necessary I can get those)- Fruman is the only one I'm aware of. We've been...

    speakers

I gonna get some new speakers in my 2-12 cab- using it with my 50 watt marshall heads. I'm looking for a crunchy classic rock tone. i've been thinking of alnico speakers, such as celestion blues, webers, emminence, or tone tubbys, maybe fanes. Anyone have any ideas or experience with any of...

    Great Idea

In our band we just got another guitarist. I've been the only one for about 6 years, and always controlled my volume myself when we didn't have a soundman. Being a 3 peice band + vox is relatively easy to keep a steady mix, but with the addition of the other guitarist, it got a little more...

    Weber mini mass

I did a search on attenuators in this forum, and decieded on the weber mini mass. I can't wait! I'm tired of my being told to turn my marshalls down to the point of crappy tone. Hopefully this thing will do the trick.:fingersx:

    long legs made short

I have seths in my PRS custom 22, and when I ordered them, I didn't realize that that guitar required short legs on the pups. They work, but are very close to the strings. Can the custom shop, or repair shop shorten them? Or any other ideas? Thanks

    Pick-up booster

I hope this is the right forum to post this. This story might just well be an example of stating the obvious. When I was at NAMM last week i was talking to Matt Blackett about the fact that my single coil guitars (strat w/ 5-2's and MIM tele stock) couldn't really keep up with my humbucker...

    other pups unpotted

I have seths in my prs and love them. I like that unpotted sound and vibe you get. I don't have a problem with squealing and don't use a low level of gain- kinda like Rev Billy G and Angus. I'm curious about how another slightly higher output pup like the PG or the EVH might sound unpotted, or...

In Praise of the Marshall studio 15

These amps completely kick @$$! Anyone else here have one of these? They're kinda rare, and getting costly.

    Tone styler

I picked up one of these at NAMM. I always thought that that was a lot of money for a tone pot, but the price kicked butt at the show- huge discount so I got one. I put on my LP jr with a Rio Grande blues dawg, and it is totally cool! All of the positions are really cool and usable. I didn't...

    I just played a '58 goldtop

Good God is it cool. It had the wear, the smell and a huge amount of vibe. The Bridge pup was a great mellow treble sound, and the neck pup was just buttery smooth- a bit hotter then the bridge, but I wasn't about to start adjusting things. It was brought in to our store by a collector here in...
