    P90 pickup height

Anyone have any recommendations for pickup height on a pair of Duncan sp90-1 vintage? They may be vintages or they may be "hot". I'm not sure.

    What P90 is this?

I just picked up an older guitar today that has P90's in it. White soap bar. I took out the neck and it says Seymour Duncan and it says 1NC on the back. I didnt take out the bridge as it was a bit of a hassle getting this one back in. anyone have any ideas?

Antiquities: why do they come with mounting rings?

Are the rings/brackets aged like the pickup? Just curious as most pickups dont come with the plastic mounting rings. Just wondering if the pickups are a different size or something. I'm assuming I can use my tapered mounting ring that is on my historic SG if I were to pick up a set of Ants...

Please explain how resistance affects tone and gain?

I read alot of talk about resistance measurements on the forum and gain/tone. It sounds like the higher the resistance the "hotter" the pickup is. Is there any kind of generic guage someone can use to judge how a pickup will sound based on the resistance measurement?

So explain the difference that magnets make?

What are the various levels of tone that one can expect with all the different kinds of magents? (i.e. alnico 2, 3, 4, 5 and 8, etc). Also, are all magnets interchangable? I'm debating on buying a 3, 4, 5 and 8 for my Custom Custom to hear the difference.

    pickup suggestion for Historic SG

I've got a historic SG that I just picked up. Its got Gibson burstbucker 1 & 2's in it. Its not bad...but I would like to fatten it up a bit while retaining the clarity. For fun I threw in a 59 and a custom custom that I had laying around in the SG and it sounded awful. Too dark. No...

    Please help identify these pickups...

I just picked up a used Fernandes tele and was told that the pickups that are in it look like Seymour Duncans. The neck is a humbucker and the bridge is a stock tele style. The neck route is NOT stock so I know that these probably arent stock. The "signature" appears to be the same on each...

Need wiring diagram for blending 2 volume controls...

The way I've currently got my 335 wired, when I'm in the middle position and turn 1 volume down a bit...I lose all volume from that pickup. I want to combine 50's mod and whatever mod will fix this. I remember seeing this before...but I'll be darned if I can find it now.. Thanks

Duncan Custom 5 vs Duncan Distortion

I'm ready to RMA my 59 back to duncan for a C5. I thought the 59 was a bit too bright and not fat enough sounding and didnt overdrive the amp to my liking. Duncan recommended the 35. However, after finding out that the stock pickups in my 335 copy are duncan designed HB103's, which were...

So what "standard" duncan pickup is most like HB103?

My Hamer Echotone has Duncan Designed HB103 pickups in it. I put 59's in it and missed the fat overdrive of the hb103's. However, the hb's dont have the clarity of the 59's. Sounds like I'm going to trade up to a C5. Hotter version of the 59's. I'm just curious what pickup are the HB103's...

Mixing 59 with custom 5: Should I put 59 Bridge in neck position?

I've currently got 2 59's (bridge and neck) in my ES 335 copy. As per another post, I'm looking for more output and "drive" from my bridge pickup so I'm probably going to trade in one of my 59's for a Custom 5. The question is, which should keep and put in the neck position? The 59n or 59b...

Losing highs when turning down volume..even just a bit.

I gigged for the first time with my 2 new Duncan 59's last night. I had a big problem with losing high end when I would roll my volume off on the guitar. I wired the pickups using the standard Humbucker wiring (option #1) on the Duncan schematic page. (2 volume, 2 tone). I used .022 ufd caps. I...

I need a pickup with slightly more power than 59.

I recently purchased 2 Duncan 59's (neck and bridge) to put in my Hamer Echotone 335 copy. I played with them last night for the first time and while I got the clarity I was after, the bridge just seemed to lack the ability to drive my amp harder (little more overdrive) than the stock pickup...
