    tone pot questions......

I replaced the tone pot in a Schecter ('96 MIK)......500k factory Alpha for a 500K CTS; the old pot had a definant "cross-over spot"...the new one is much smoother in the transition.......I put a .22 cap on it Vs a .33 or .47 so the bleed would'nt be as pronounced. My Tone control sounds like a...

What to do with '59 neck PU?

Now I've got one laying around so I want to experiment with magnet swaps.......finally! Would an A5 or A8 mag increase the output, or just the tone varience? Isn't output kinda measured off the resistence? What could I expect by putting it a more powerful magnet?

    Darn you to heck GC!!!

Happier New Year everybody! Well after bustin' my hump day and night working around the Holiday Festivis facility closures....I got a chance on the last day of '09 to stop at a pawn shop to hopefully pick up a Laney 35 amp I've been eyeing. Wouldn't you know it......it was literally sold a...

Where can I find pedal button covers?

The floor pedal for channel/effects switching my amp has the small round buttons (Marshall), I was thinking about putting something like a large rubber pad on each so switching is not so hard on bare feet. Googling gets me pedals, but where exactly to check for parts and accessories? Is...

    Book-matched maple tops

How important is this asthetic to you? I was looking at Jesse's Epi, then, mine.....then all the other flame-maple tops. They're all off by about 1/4 to a whole inch.....from close matching...to "not even".......It seems to me that there's a price-point to getting a perfectly matched...

    More guitar porn

Got my tripod back so I could take a few pics...........finally! Family photo I salvaged the neck from a Yamaha RBX with a broken headstock, cut a body out of teak, installed Steinberger bridge and nut, and an EMG active PU with vol/dbl-tone/dbl-tone knobs. It's strung BEAD. This '96 MIK...

    Opinions on Laney Amps

I've found another modeling amp for under two bills.........it looks like an LX 35D with the grate front, didn't get the exact nomenclature off the amp...... What's the opinions of Laney in general? I understood it was good kit.....anything to watch out for? Other amps in consideration are a...

    Rotating Pick

I like to use Dunlap USA Nylon picks in .6mm and .46mm. Problem I was experiencing was the picks would roll in my fingers while playing, and the point would angle further back towards the bridge. This was happening with ALL styles of picks I've tried out.........until I found a partial/temp...

    wiring asthetics

I've noticed in the control cavity of my Schecter that the wires are bundled with a Zip-Strip......is this a factory thing or someone's modification? All the wires are bundled on top of the control pots and it makes me think about some wire-shortening when I do the vol/tone mod to vol/vol...

    How to do harmonic squeal?

You know that annoying squeal that Zakk Wylde likes to over-do.......how does one do that? I've heard part of the technique was using a bit of picking thumb, but have no clue about it on the fretboard......how's it done?

    New mod to new guitar

Ok, I've had this Schecter C1 (closest model # I can find for this apparently discontinued guitar), for about a week, been giving it the run-down, and now I think I want to change some things, already! It came to me with dual SD humbuckers......they are wired and coil split into a 5-way switch...

    Amplifying a multi-effects pedal

So here's what I was thinking..........I have a Digitech RP 70 for playing in the living room when the roomates are home (headphones)........I declined against getting a small modeling amp since I already have a 2x12 cab, but at 50 lbs, I don't like lugging it upstairs and down on a whim...

    Guitarists.....

I've been thinking about this.......a musician is a person who can beat on a log and create a rhythym.....so it is a guitarist can strum on just about any stringed instrument, and create a sound that appeals to the masses, if they're a musician........(caveat: a log-pounder with "talent")...

    Duncan SH-6 Distortion

What's the general consensus on these pick ups? I don't see them mentioned too much on these forums, rather they're glossed over by the Invader and Full Shred....then there's the Custom/'59/JB fans..... Now I don't know a whole lot about every SD pickup design, and quite a few of them sound so...

    Pickups and body styles.....NGD

Hi y'all, I've run amongst a bout of impulsive G.A.S. and picked up another guitar while amp shopping tonight. Got me a Schecter Diamond (mid-90's Korean), it sports a JB bridge and '59 neck PUs, but it's not as ballsy and powerful sounding like my Epi LP rebuild with the SH-6 Distortion bridge...
