What exactly is the difference between a Stacked Single coil and a Single sized Humbucker? I had a custom shop idea in mind, but it works better if the stacks are Humbuckers too...

I'm looking for a good, vintage (Or vintage voiced) combo amp that deals a nice thick, crunchy sound without spending too much. Something along the lines of Cream, Early Zeppelin (studio), Deep Purple, etc (I guess I'm looking for a Plexi, huh?) Something not too loud either.

I was planning on purchasing a Seth Lover neck and a Whole Lotta Humbucker bridge for my ?Gibson Les Paul and was wondering if I should get my WLH custom shopped to be unpotted and made with the same materials as the SL for a more "proper" vintage tone combination. What do you think?
